Feedback. Are you providing enough?

Feedback is one of those topics instructors, trainers, and coaches often say they’re providing enough of. But are they guiding students along, or dumping an evaluation on them at the end of a course?

Feedback needs to be provided at a time (in the learning cycle) to allow learners to improve their performance BEFORE future assessments.

This takes a little bit more work to incorporate upfront, but if you don’t want to put in the work, why put out a course in the first place?

In this video I take you through a sales training case study, (hoping) to illustrate how we can develop courses that meet expectations.

The problem I see is, we expect too much from what we produce. And we can be too optimistic about the kinds of “benefits” our learner will get.

We should be thinking about, “What are the most important skills we want our learners to walk away with.” Also, are our assessments allowing us to measure those skills?

So let’s review a sample course, and see what we can do to get back to reality!

Last week, we launched Brokencoworker.com – an interactive office harassment training site; accessible and sharable to the public.

In this post, I want to discuss a few of the project decisions that went into the site, the difficult stuff – less about software, more about process (and momentum).
